Škoda Auto to provide 53 vehicles and welcome fans to the Official Fan Zones
Škoda Auto has continuously supported the flagship ice hockey event since 1992 as a mobility partner and since 1993 as the Official Main Sponsor. This year, the Czech carmaker will provide the organisers with 53 all-electric Elroq and Enyaq vehicles. In collaboration with the importer, Škoda Auto will also be present in the Official Fan Zones in both host cities, offering a variety of activities and competitions. Visitors will be able to shoot pucks at an ice hockey goal, see the tournament’s Most Valuable Player trophy up close, pose with a giant goalie mask and sing ice hockey chants in karaoke-equipped Elroq models. Škoda models will be on display inside and around the arenas. The new Škoda Epiq crossover SUV will take centre stage as it celebrates its world premiere during the championship. The accompanying programme will reflect the playful spirit of the Epiq campaign and its modelling clay theme.

World premiere of the Epiq crossover SUV: Škoda’s most affordable all-electric model
On Tuesday 19 May, Škoda Auto will stage the world premiere of its new all-electric crossover SUV, the Epiq, in Zurich. Ahead of the reveal, camouflaged vehicles will be on display in both arenas. During the games on 19 May at 16:20, fans in the arenas in Zurich and Fribourg will see the Epiq without camouflage for the first time. Škoda fans will also be able to watch the premiere live on  the car manufacturer’s YouTube channel.

The Škoda Epiq is Škoda’s entry point into the electric vehicle segment, making electric mobility accessible to a broader range of customers. The Epiq is the first Škoda production model based on the new MEB+ platform, offering front-wheel drive, modern assistance systems and ample interior space. Alongside the Peaq, which will be unveiled in the second half of the year, the Epiq will double Škoda’s electric vehicle portfolio in 2026.

Škoda creates the award for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player
Škoda Design has once again created the trophy for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The trophy is made from hand-blown Czech crystal and has been produced by Lasvit using a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The emerald-green trophy reflects Škoda’s distinctive brand colour, and its design follows the brand’s new Modern Solid design language, which is also used for the Epiq. The tournament’s Most Valuable Player will receive the trophy from a Škoda Auto board member during the closing ceremony.

Škoda Auto has prepared the limited-run Fabia Motorsport Edition to mark 125 years of the brand’s motorsport tradition. This exclusive series of 125 cars is based on the Fabia 130 special edition and combines a 130 kW 1.5 TSI engine, a sporty design inspired by the current Fabia RS Rally2 competition car, and details referencing the success of Škoda Motorsport vehicles. Each car in the series will feature a numbered plaque in the interior.

The Škoda Fabia Motorsport Edition builds on the Fabia 130 special edition, the fastest series-production car in the Fabia model range, and adds its own sporty stamp that will appeal to fans of both the Škoda brand and Škoda Motorsport. This limited edition offers a vehicle suited to everyday use that has a strong link to the successful rally cars from Mladá Boleslav. It features a styling package inspired by rallying, with visual elements drawn from the current Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 competition car.

The design of the limited edition draws on the brand’s motorsport heritage. The Fabia Motorsport Edition is available exclusively in Moon White metallic paint, complemented by black pillars and a black roof. The exterior is further defined by black-painted details, including the front and rear spoilers and the diffuser. Special decals inspired by the current Fabia RS Rally2 competition car give the model a striking appearance. Bi-LED headlights with black inner surrounds sharpen the look of the front end. Unique 18-inch Libra alloy wheels in a smoked finish. together with lowered suspension, create a dynamic stance, while a twin exhaust tailpipe beneath the diffuser completes the overall look.

The black sports interior combines everyday usability with a motorsport feel. The front sports seats with integrated head restraints offer strong lateral support and, like the dashboard, are enhanced with carbon-look trim. The interior’s exclusivity is underlined by the plaque on the dashboard showing the car’s individual number within the limited run of 125 units, as well as the Škoda Motorsport 125 emblem on the three-spoke sports steering wheel and the woven floor mats. When the front doors are opened, passengers are greeted by bespoke door sill trims featuring a racing decal motif. The Fabia Motorsport Edition builds on the technical basis of the most powerful Fabia model version, while also adding a collectible dimension and a direct link to Škoda Motorsport’s anniversary.

At the heart of the Fabia Motorsport Edition is an enhanced 130 kW 1.5 TSI evo2 engine. Powertrain Development specialists at Škoda Auto Technical Development modified selected components, including the intake manifold, vibration damper and rocker arms, to accommodate the increased output. Compared with the standard 110 kW 1.5 TSI unit, the engine delivers more power from as low as 3,500 rpm. The maximum output of 130 kW is available between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm, while peak torque of 250 Nm is delivered across a broad range from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. The seven-speed DSG transmission has been enhanced, with higher shift points for faster acceleration, rev-matched downshifts in Sport mode and revised braking logic for quicker re-acceleration. These modifications underscore the car’s dynamism while ensuring it remains fully suitable for everyday use, without compromising comfort.

A special gift box, prepared exclusively for owners of this limited edition, forms part of the exclusive customer experience. Each customer receives a Fabia Motorsport Edition certificate of origin signed by members of the Board of Management of Škoda Auto, a protective transport case bearing the Fabia 125 logo, driving gloves and a unique collector’s item: a piece of the safety frame from a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, further reinforcing the link between this limited-edition model and the world of Škoda Motorsport rally cars.

Škoda Motorsport has a rich history encompassing many categories, with its greatest successes in rallying. Since 2015, rally cars based on the Fabia have become among the most successful in the history of the Rally2 category. More than 750 customer cars sold across three generations, six WRC2 drivers’ titles and countless continental and national titles underline the exceptional strength of the cars and Škoda Motorsport customer programme. The Fabia Motorsport Edition celebrates these achievements in the form of an exclusive limited edition created for 125 customers.

Škoda Auto is returning to Milan Design Week after a successful debut in 2025 to present a unique artistic brand exhibition at Palazzo del Senato. Combining art and innovation, the creative concept introduces visitors to Škoda’s current design approach. The exhibition and large-scale installations, created by Spanish architect and artist Ricardo Orts, founder of Ulises Studio, draw on the playfulness and curiosity associated with modelling clay – the central motif of the global marketing campaign for the upcoming Škoda Epiq. The electric compact crossover, while still camouflaged, will also form part of the exhibition.

“Milan Design Week allows us to further elevate the Škoda brand and present it far beyond the automotive world – as a brand driven by design, creativity and innovation. Our installation brings the Modern Solid design language to life in a playful, immersive way that invites people to experience our brand, not just observe it. At the heart of this presentation is the Epiq – a clear expression of our ambition to make electric mobility more accessible and to inspire new customer groups through design-led storytelling.”

Martin Jahn, Škoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing

Škoda and Ricardo Orts create a bold presence at the heart of fashion and design
From 21 to 26 April, Palazzo del Senato will be transformed into an exhibition space with colourful elements that blend physical and digital environments. It has been created by Spanish architect and internationally acclaimed digital artist Ricardo Orts, founder of Ulises Studio, whom Forbes included in its 2024 selection of the 100 most creative people in business.

“Škoda Auto fits naturally into my visual world. It combines playfulness and accessibility with a strong technical and carefully considered design language. This balance between imagination and precision deeply resonates with my own work,” comments Ricardo Orts on the collaboration. For Škoda’s presentation, he designed an original installation featuring the many shapes and colours of modelling clay – the same motif will be an integral part of the global marketing activities linked to the upcoming new electric crossover SUV, the Epiq.

Škoda exhibition in the spirit of ‘Ooooh, that’s EpiQ!’
Set directly in the courtyard of the Baroque Palazzo del Senato, Škoda’s display, featuring the camouflaged Epiq and its playful counterpart, the Epiq Sculpt, as the centrepieces, creates a striking contrast with the historic surroundings – and vibrantly underlines its main slogan: “Ooooh, that’s EpiQ!”

The open atrium will feature several relaxation zones and visitor attractions, the main one being a digital corner where visitors can explore the theme of the exhibition, the Epiq and the Škoda brand through an LED screen projection. The installation space will also include an open auditorium, a dedicated area for children and a freely accessible area with a varied programme, including sessions focused on healthy living and group exercise. In addition, a Škoda Elroq will serve as a mobile café. Whether stopping by briefly for a Curiosity Fuel Coffee or spending an entire day enjoying the programme, there will be something for everyone. As part of the programme, Epiq Talks will feature a discussion between Chan Park, Head of Škoda Auto Interior Design, and Ricardo Orts, offering additional insight into the creative vision behind the project. Further information and registration for individual activities can be found at epiqdesignweek.com.

With its presence at Milan Design Week, Škoda Auto celebrates curiosity, playfulness and transformation, inviting people to connect with their sense of wonder and rediscover thepleasure of interacting with space.

In 2025
the Vrchlabí plant produced a record 721,400 DQ 200 transmissions

Production at the Vrchlabí plant once again surpassed the records set in the previous two years, thanks in part to the workforce’s strong commitment and the ongoing modernisation of production technologies.

The plant produced a record 721,400 seven‑speed DSG automatic transmissions from the DQ 200 series. More than half of output is destined for export to models from other brands within the Group. As recently as 2022, annual capacity stood at 537,600 units. The increase in output is due both to the high pace of work and to cutting‑edge technology: last year, for example, a new robot was installed for automatic insertion of the dual clutch.

Automatic insertion of the parking brake module was also introduced and brought into operation after the annual factory shutdown. A converted station for pre‑assembling the differential gear was also commissioned. This improved both safety and ergonomics when handling one of the heaviest components. Ergonomic improvements in the pre-assembly of carriers are also worth mentioning. This operation is now performed by an automatic press.

The memorandum with Vrchlabí
confirmed the main areas of cooperation through to 2028

The Škoda Auto Endowment Fund, the town of Vrchlabí and the KRNAP Administration signed an agreement under which the Endowment Fund will invest around CZK 16 million in new projects over the next three years.

Strategic projects include the creation of an innovation and community hub and the development of cultural and educational institutions in the town centre, including a new art school and the conversion of the old theatre into a cinema. Vrchlabí will also be linked with Jilemnice by a cycle path featuring a new bridge for cyclists. The Endowment Fund has also declared its continuing support for education, social activation and improving the quality of public spaces in the town.

The memorandum between the Endowment Fund and the Krkonoše National Park Administration focuses on protecting and developing the environment in the Krkonoše Mountains and surrounding area. Joint activities include support for biodiversity, volunteering, education and community projects. Plans also include the second stage of the revitalisation of the monastery garden in Vrchlabí, linking nature conservation with high-quality public space. These partnerships build on Škoda Auto’s long-term activities in the region, where the company has invested tens of millions of crowns in development, education and cultural projects in recent years.

The agreement signed on 28 March 1991, which brought Škoda Auto into the Volkswagen Group, marked the beginning of a new era for the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker. Backed by major investments, shared technologies and coordinated development, Škoda has grown into a successful global player active in around 100 markets worldwide. As part of the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core, the brand is helping to make battery-electric mobility more accessible and will double its BEV portfolio by the end of this year with the Epiq and Peaq. At the same time, Škoda has expanded its role as a component manufacturer, supplying engines and transmissions to other Group brands and becoming the Volkswagen Group’s largest producer of BEV battery systems.

“Thirty-five years ago, joining the Volkswagen Group marked the beginning of a remarkable Czech–German success story. Škoda Auto has transformed into a strong, global brand – rooted in its identity, driven by ingenuity, and defined by a clear ‘can do’ attitude. Being part of the Volkswagen Group and the Brand Group Core gives us a powerful foundation to grow and compete. It allows us to benefit from scale, making us faster, more efficient, and better positioned to deliver outstanding value and a broad choice of powertrains to our customers.
Škoda has built a distinct and resilient role within the Group. We are growing successfully in more than 100 markets, with India as a strong second pillar, and we are contributing as a key component hub – supplying engines, transmissions, and today leading in the production of BEV battery systems. Now we are accelerating our electric transformation. With upcoming models like Epiq and Peaq, we are expanding our portfolio and making electromobility more accessible – true to our mission within the Brand Group Core.
This success is built on strong collaboration across the Group, within our company, and with our partners. I want to thank our employees and our trade union partner KOVO for their constructive and reliable cooperation over many years. Together, we combine scale with identity, efficiency with creativity, and tradition with innovation – giving us confidence for the future.”

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto

Škoda Favorit sparked Volkswagen’s interest
The first contacts between Škoda Auto and the Volkswagen Group can be traced back to the 1970s. However, the real catalyst for closer ties between the two carmakers was the development and production of the new Škoda Favorit, introduced in 1987. During talks on potential cooperation and the use of selected components, including powertrains, a Favorit prototype was tested in Wolfsburg. This exchange established important relationships: the highly skilled Škoda specialists made a lasting impression thanks to their ability to respond flexibly to complex development and engineering challenges.

After the fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia in November 1989, it became clear that Škoda needed a strong strategic partner to compete in the global market. Annual production capacity stood at around 200,000 vehicles, and the portfolio comprised just two models: the Škoda Favorit and the Forman estate. During the privatisation of the state-owned carmaker, Volkswagen emerged as one of the leading candidates among 24 potential partners. The agreement establishing a joint venture between the Czech government and the Volkswagen Group was signed on 28 March 1991 by Minister of Industry Jan Vrba and Volkswagen Chairman Carl Hahn. After the Volkswagen Group had fulfilled its contractually agreed commitments, it acquired an initial 31 per cent stake in Škoda Auto on 16 April 1991, which was subsequently increased to 100 per cent by 30 May 2000.

Expanding the model portfolio and production capacity to support international growth
Škoda Auto’s development over the following decades was underpinned by an extensive investment programme worth several hundred billion Czech crowns, as well as close coordination with other Group brands. This enabled the company to evolve into an internationally successful car manufacturer with expanding production capacity, a broad model portfolio and access to international markets.
In 2025, Škoda became the third best-selling brand in Europe, delivering more than 1,040,000 vehicles to customers. Alongside its three production plants in the Czech Republic, Škoda today operates production facilities in Slovakia, Kazakhstan and India, mostly through Group partnerships, and manufactures vehicles in Vietnam and Ukraine in cooperation with local partners. With a special focus on India, Škoda is establishing the subcontinent as a strong second pillar alongside Europe, achieving record deliveries there in 2025, driven by its locally developed model line-up: Kushaq, Slavia and, in particular, the Škoda Kylaq. In addition, the company started production in Vietnam and expanded its presence in the Middle East with market entries in Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Driving electric mobility
By the end of this year, Škoda will double its all-electric portfolio with the seven-seater Peaq and the urban crossover Epiq, offering customers even more choice. As part of the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family, the Epiq will help make electric mobility more accessible while leveraging synergies across the Group.
In addition, Škoda is a key component supplier within the Volkswagen Group. With the recent opening of its new battery production facility in Mladá Boleslav, Škoda has become the Volkswagen Group’s largest manufacturer of BEV battery systems. The €205 million investment is part of the Group’s overall battery strategy and supports the faster rollout of new technologies in close cooperation with the Volkswagen Group Technology Center of Excellence Battery.
